Rock The Rock

ROCK THE ROCK is our concerted effort during the entire month of July to impact our city with the love of God through serving.  We want people to ask the question: “Why are you doing this?”  The two primary ways to get involved are through serving those in your neighborhood and serving in a Kids Club during the week of July 13-17.

SERVING IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD:

During the month of May, we held catalyst gatherings within different geographic areas of our city to investigate ways to serve the people that live around us.  We wanted to hear from people who attend HCB about how they can build relational bridges with those around them.  Below we have listed possible ways to invest in your neighborhood through serving them daily, weekly, and monthly during July.  However, feel free to come up with your own ways, JUST DO SOMETHING!  We will be providing some info cards to hand out to those you serve and some bottled water with our information on it will be available at the office.

DAILY   - Pray for your neighbors by name
            - Take cookies or a baked good to a neighbor
            - Go meet a neighbor you don’t know, welcome new ones to the area
             - Write a note of encouragement to someone in your neighborhood
             - Ask a neighbor if there is something that you can pray for them about.
             - Engage your neighbors in conversation and find out what is going
       on in their lives

                - Host a weekly trip to a local attraction for kids
                - Host a scrapbooking, cooking, sewing, or craft party
               - Share a meal with someone on your street
                 - Give out a restaurant gift-card to families
                 - Serve a single parent on your street
                 - Offer to babysit children so a couple can go on a date
                 - Prayerwalk your neighborhood
                 - Take a neighbor to play golf or another hobby you participate in
                 - Go pass out water bottles in your neighborhood to construction workers
     - Offer to help with a yard project or house project.

Monthly - Host a blockparty / grill out
